Mosaic And Newsong Joint Staff Gathering
A week ago today Mosaic and Newsong churches had a joint staff gathering. This is something that caught my eye and excites my heart to see. I’m very passionate about the Big-C Church and working together for the Kingdom. I can’t stand any spirit of competition between churches.
To see 2 great churches with 2 great leaders come together really blesses and encourages me. You can read an interview with Erwin McManus and Dave Gibbons that was done that day HERE.
Has your church ever done something like that? Have you partnered or planned with other churches in your area? If so, I’d love to hear about it. We do something like that here in Dallas with the Large Church Forum, but I really like to see just 2 churches do something like this. What are you thoughts?

Yes, we have partnered with several churches in our area for over the last few years for big outreach events like Sharing Hope, Harvest Crusade, and just this year, Convoy of Hope (over 60 churches). And on a smaller scale, my church is looking to partner with a couple of churches in our close vicinity to "adapt" a middle school in our neighborhood. I love working with other churches that don't look like us but have the same passion to reach out to our community with the love of Christ.

That's awesome, Willie. Keep it up!

I love to see this happen, too. I love the whole idea behind the OnePrayer campaign for that very reason. In most parts of the country, though (particularly in the Bible Belt where I lived for a very long time), the churches who mainly did these sorts of things were either big nondenom churches who were following the same progressive crowds (McManus, Groeschel, Bell, Kimball, etc.). When mainline denominational churches shared the stage, it was usually with other churches in their same denominations. I always wanted to see different churches bring their sense of cultures to others – Black Gospel churches (of any denominations) worshipping with Pentecostals, Lutherans, and vice-versa. Regardless of styles, genres, liturgies, we all have a lot to learn from each other, and we are all the family of God.

Exciting news…It's good to see this happening in other areas as well as here in small town Texas. There is a stigma that comes with being one of the three largest churches in Mexia (you know, snotty, uncaring, racist, etc., etc.). We like to focus on community focused projects that pulls us out of that mindset and changes our image. Yearly we work with four or five other churches and put on a week long revival that rotates locale, worship leaders, and pastors (eg., the Pastor from Antioch and the worship leader from FUMC doing the service at FBC). It's a great way to rub shoulders with fellow Christians and focus on something bigger.

Focusing on something bigger is key. It's all about the Kingdom and the Big C – Church. Thanks, Bill.
